Inquiry Project: Lesson 1 - Deciding

WALT: To identify the main concepts and ideas of our inquiry through brainstorming and questioning.

This week the students are starting their second graphic design Inquiry Project. The students plan and create their designs based on their own ideas, working independently at their own pace.
This project is approached as if the students are REAL graphic designers and have been asked to create a design for a client.

Their goal is to create a design that is realistic to the real world of design while following the success criteria given.

Everyone worked really well with putting their ideas on paper. I always look forward to seeing their ideas evolve into their final outcome.

Below are a few examples of the students planning. Keep checking back to see how the designs evolve into the final outcomes.

We had a fantastic lesson today. All of the students were engaged with what they were doing and enjoying the planning process. Most of the students completed their planning and started setting up their project on Adobe.

Name Design: Lesson 4 - Finalize Design

WALT: Finalize your title page to create an effective design to a professional standard.

In this activity the students will be learning about the “Elements of Design” and then be able to use this information to help fine tune their designs to create the best most effective title pages possible.
Elements such as Space, Size, Colour, Texture etc all play important roles when creating designs.

The elements together with the principles of design are the building blocks used to create a work of art. The elements of design can be thought of as the things that make up a painting, drawing, design etc. Good or bad - all designs will contain most of, if not all, the seven elements of design.

The students did an awesome job with completing their first project. Everyone has created an unique, very individual style of design to match their ideas and personality. Great effort :-)
